Mine is on the bottom of my Handelbars directly below speedo. Ran wire under tank to battery. I have an 04 spirit 1100.

I have an AC adapter that plugs into my battery tender dongle. It can be used with anything that has an AC charger.

It really is super easy. It has a hundred uses...especially for camping. It'll charge up my cell phone overnight without draining the battery. I'm looking for some way to use the battry tender dongle for jumping my battery! I think the dongle has a fuse that limits the charge going TO the battery.
