Rocks - all of your answers are in the service manual which you can find right here http://home.comcast.net/~retrocruiser/838485/ . Props to guy that owns this site who has done many of us a real solid favor.

Thanks, I spent a couple hours searching the bike for anything that looked like a fuse or fuse block and couldn't find a darn thing. My Kaw KZ440 is easy, you can plainly see the fuse block.

Now to figure out how to test the fuel pump, his fuel system page is still under construction.

Yeah, I just spotted that and downloaded it. I got my hands on a clymers manual for the bike and to say the least it is the worst written service manual I've ever seen. I've worked on many cars in my youth, rebuilding carbs, engines etc. I have plenty of tools but I'll be buying a compressor, a bike jack and a couple other things soon.

Section 21.6 in the manual on fuel pump test. Fuses in the headlight and under the instrument panel.

using both clymer and factory manual works better than just one or the other - each has their strengths and weaknesses.....Harbor Freight may become your new favorite store, bro.

Already have my wish list for Harbor freight! I'm not opposed to reading manuals but I know that many times asking a question from knowledgeable people gets you answers and ideas you'll never find in a manual.
