Default Couple how to questions....

First, I hope is easy. How do you get the covers off the bolt heads on the risers? I'm wanting to disassemble the handlebars etc... to polish but I'm stumped at the first step of removing the covers on the bolts holding the risers together...

Second is really a "have you done it" question. Has anybody done the swap of front wheels from the pre 2007 19" wheel to the newer 21" wheel of the Spirit?

I've looked and the spokes and rim width are the same on both models with the only difference being ones 21" and mine is 19".

My Main questions are:

On the fork lower tubes, are the fender support mounting holes in the same spot? The model numbers are indeed different from the 2006 to the 2008 BUT if I'm swapping rim diameter to a 21" I'll swap the fender for an all steel fender anyway, so does it matter? The fender will just have to be cut so the mounting sides are long enough to reach to the mounting holes correct? Also, if I'm swapping the stock plastic for a steel do you still need the steel support? It'll be easy enough to have a new one fabricated to facilitate the swap.

Other concern, I'll have to swap the speedo gear BUT since the 2008 has the speedo gear located on the right side and my 2006 is on the left will it make a difference if it's running "backward"?

Anything else I should lookout for?

Thanks.

Are you asking about item #17 in this image? I gently pry mine up by placing a the blade of a small screwdriver underneath.

Those would indeed be the aforementioned pains in the butt..

I've tried with a small screwdriver with absolutely no success. I'm afraid I'm going to try too hard and ruin something.

Marriage advice, let 'er rip. After 12 years of marriage I can still use advice as it seems I'm typically in trouble for something I said, didn't say, did or didn't do, thought... well, you get the picture

Best marriage advice. Don't do it. Yeah I know. 12 years too late. Sorry.

Mine came off by wedging my thumbnail under it and rotating my nail around. If you break them, they're not terribly expensive to replace.

How did you get your thumbnail inside there and under the cap? There's barely room for a precision screwdriver to fit with my bike...
