I find CLUTCHLESS shifting is much quieter on mine. As far as upshifts go.... Most cruiser and tourer transmisions tend not to be suitable for clutchless down shifting though, wide ratios. Thats where shifter pedal pressure/support is helpfull.

Hey guys mine (97 shadow spirit 1100c) makes noise too but it isn't a clunk sound, more like a ratchet sound. Sometimes it is the mild clunk for a while, then goes to the ratching sound...is this normal too

A ratchet sound suggests grinding gears. Possible clutch adjustment needed or something else going on. Can you give a little more detail?? What oil is in the engine? Does it happen all the time? Cold or warm engine? Rider experience?

I would second those statments,Cluch cable adjustment, Oil, or May need to be a little firmer and quicker on the shift.
