Question sure do miss a kick starter

Of all the cycles i`ve had in the last 30 yrs,, the 84 shadow is the first one i`ve had without a kick starter,, sigh,,, wonder what their reasoning was for not including one on these models?

They were probably right..

same here, and recent loss of weight/muscle would have me in the truck and no longer riding if we only had kick starters.

I've got Both on my dirt bike and it comes in handy in the middle of the woods, But on the Shadow I just keep it maintained and if something should go wrong help is a phone call away, A kick start might be a good backup but on my dirt bike I think I've needed the kick in a emergency maybe once or twice since I got it in 2008

You ever tried to kick over a V-twin???? or anything over say 250 thumper motor, you'd understand why the electric start.

When I was a kid, brother and I used the kicker on Dads Harley as a makeshift diving board. See we learned how set the kicker at just the point where it was going to kick back. Then we would jump off the seat onto the kicker and be launched into the pool.

Tthen theres the electronic ignition and fuel. IF you got no juice, kicking aint going to start the bike no matter what.
