Unhappy 2000 ACE 750 electric problems? HELP!!!

Back again to beg for the wisdom of the great Honda riders. So here are my symptoms.

Part 1:

When the bike was running it ran great. It studdered a little during the first few minutes running, but once warm it was perfect. I assumed the studdering was carb related. The only other strange thing was that sometimes I would hit the start button and there would be a click, but nothing happened. After releasing and trying again it started fine.

Part 2:

One day I hit the starter and heard the same click. Hit it again and everything died. No lights, no horn, no starter... Nada!!!

Let it sit for a few days entil I could get the battery out and took it to retardZone. They checked it and said it was fine. (the idiot also managed to touch the terminal clips together for a spark. I almost bitch slapped him)

Put the battery back in the bike and she starts up fine... What the hell...

Part 3:

Got on the bike to start it up in the morning and the same malfunction happened. I let it sit for a few day in hopes that it would turn on but I'm getting nothing. She's completely dead.

Conclusion:
I'm really not sure what to do here. I dont know if I need a new starter, battery, regulator or whatnot... I don't post unless I'm stumped but I am stumped.

Also. (just remembered this) I remember one of the terminals at the starter switch being disconnected. I don't know if this popped off from a shock or if i pulled it off while fiddling. Could be a possible lead. Thanks in advance.

I have a friend that is going to give me a battery to use to see if mine is just dead. I believe the problem occured both times when the bike was sitting outside overnight.

All fuses are good including the main 30amp. all wires on the right side are connected. Battery terminals are also tight.

Before you do anything to the bike go out and buy a $10 digital multimeter..we can fix this easily..

In the mean time make sure that the bike is in neutral, the side stand is up and the kill switch is set to 'run'

Looking clean on electrical connections don't get it. They can build up a sort ov varnish that just darkens the copper and it can be enough to prevent electrical flow.
it started after taking the battery out and putting it back in, You moved wires. Clean the connections on your battery cables on both ends. Wire brush or sand paper. Make sure you have a clean surface where the ground cable connects to the bike.

Default Starter button maintenance

Before you do a lot of extensive tear down read this post.
Honda Shadows have a notoriously fragile starter button. (We share this button with the Valkerie).
The contacts can and will oxide or burn. Especially if driving lights or other accessories have been tied into the headlight circuit. Starting then becomes erratic at best. A little Starter Buttom Maintenance will solve your problem.

I'll let you know when he starts getting crazy, and out of sorts
get the battery load tested if you can.

It's a little cold in PA to do much work right now. I'll update when I get to poking around.
