If you just want to get them done, without the confusion. I always just do them like this, when one valve is completely compressed like the intake,adjust the exhaust of that same cylinder,it will be in the closed position. Then compress the exhaust, and adjust the intake. Just make sure the one that's compressed, is all the way down, so their not overlapping each other , chances are slim though.
