Definitely looks like a vented gascap according to the parts fiche. If the pump was removed then that may be the problem but if you've been riding it for a while with no problem then the pump probably isn't the problem. Did you buy the bike from a dealer or a person? Maybe you can talk to the seller and ask why the pump is missing.

Seller dont know why its missing, i found one including hoses, filter, mount and a relay for a good 60 bucks out of a 94 vlx: will try that as soon as it arrives and let you guys know. Regarding the cap, its very tight on the tank: i will try to clean up the tank hole and sand ghe borders until a nice fit.

Thanks guys!! Keep u posted

If the vent is in the cap - check it for corrosion - in fact, you might want to find its vent hole and try to clean it out with compressed air...

Thanks a bunch for the tip! The gas cap is brand new, probably only weeks old..

Guys, one quick question, does the VT 600 after 98 doesn't have a fuel pump? I read somewhere that the 1999 - 2007 are gravity feed, is that right? If yes, anyone have a pic on how does it works? And I'm curious why did Honda removed the fuel pump? Maybe the pump was showing too many issues?

Cheers

parts manufactures leave off don't break and save them money. Any way, my 94 vlx has a fuel pump, not sure on newer ones but perhaps with the switch to a single carb it wasn't found necessary

Another thing I just thought of, you said the gas cap was new and fit tight. Are you sure its the right one? might not be a vented cap.

SOLVED!

The gas tank cap was sitting WAY too tight on the tank because the tank hole ring was in bad shape, like the PO hit it with a hammer, leaving no space for the tank to breathe, used a drimmer to make some space and now gas flows superb!!
