Default Hole saw mod for 2012 vt750C2

Really thinking about cutting the resonators out of my pipes to get me through this riding season because I can't really afford the set of cobra pipes I want. Is it worth it to cut them out, or should I just save up and do it the right way the first time?

i have a set of OEM pipes from a 2009... you could use those to hole-saw mod in case you don't like it...

I know there is 2 schools of thought on this topic. My problem is really just me. I want to put a nice set of cobras on, but then I feel like I will just want to do the fuel management and the air intake. The bike isn't even 3 months old yet and I'm itching to change every last thing.

For a relatively inexpensive entry it sure is an expensive hobby

If I put the cobras on without the fuel management upgrade, will the stock computer balance out most of the issues, or will it run poorly? I understand that the chip remapps the system to make it run better, but will it run worse if I don't install it right away?

The US VT750s with FI do not have an O2 sensor, so there is no feedback into the ECU. The $600 Cobra controller senses how the engine is running and adjusts; the lower price unit doesn't measure anything. You can adjust it manually by judging how the engine is performing and comes from the factory adjusted for Cobra exhaust systems.

The Cobra intake works just fine with OR without the FI2000 control. It will pick up some HP with the FI2000 however. My preference in pipes, and gives results much deeper in tone than aftermarket, is to do this... First do the hole saw mod, then make/buy straight through baffles, (with spiral slits). Build up one end if necessary for good fit, and wrap well with first glass tape, then 1/2" batting, then selvedged edge glass tape again. Glue seams with heat proof silicone, and clamp ends of the 6" wide glass tapes with SS cinch ties, or wire. Compress the pillow of glass around the straight through baffle to get it in there, and use a couple of machine screws to hold it in place. It should outlast the bike!

This makes your pipes just a bit louder, but not obnoxiously so, and definitely deeper than aftermarket pipes. Its a DEEP bass note that sounds good in my book, not really loud pipes with a cave like echo.

I also prefer the look of factory pipes.
