Default Hydraulic to cable clutch?

I have an 84 VT700 and was wondering if there was some sort of modification to where you can make the clutch a cable instead of a hydraulic. I don't know how much of a pain it would be but it looks really neat to me. Any input would be appreciated!

A hydraulicly actuated clutch will always be superior to a cable operated system. Hyd is smoother, more reliable, and easier to pull. The down side is if your in the boonies and you break it, a cable is going to be easier to fix.

To go to a cable operated system on your bike, the perch/lever/cable should be easy. The pivot/push rod is the hard part. I suspect that unless you are good at machine fabrication, or can find a closely matching cable system on a like Honda, this chore will be difficult at best.

I don't think it would be worth the effort.
Just my $0.02,

Judging by the style of the bike he's probably wanting to go cable for the looks/removing the res from the bars.

Exactly. If it's more trouble than it's worth though I will just deal lol

Chalk it up to just deal for now.. that's going to be a chore at the very least. There are a lot of shops out there that convert driveshafts to chain, and this extreme thing to that other thing, and so on and so on. It almost always involves some fabrication and puts the price point close to $1,000.

You can ask around and see if anybody has done it, and what their cost/methods were, but it's probably not going to be terribly easy, and even less likely to be affordable.

I sorta wanted to do the same thing to my ride. In the end, I stayed with a hydraulic setup.

Yeah, I might end up doing something similar to what you have razor... I was thinking something like a suicide shift with the clutch lever on the shifter
