Talking Tornado Development Aftermarket Pipes and Modified Air Box

Hi, sorry I have been out of action for the last few months, as I had an accident (Fell about 20feet onto my head), was on life support and then a wheel chair for 6 months. Thank God I learnt to walk again and last week my son came home and said it’s time dust off the bikes and I should ride again.

As we were discussing it, I complained my bike sounded like a Singer Sewing machine, even though I had done all the baffles modifications including using a hole saw.

So we found a company in South Africa that does custom Exhaust and Modifications – Tornado Development and the owner TG gave me advice on some of the mods I want to. We took the bike there on a trailer, as I was scared of driving far on the highway, not having ridden a bike since my accident.

He put my bike on a Dyno and checked the fuel system and it burning, He then replaced the Stock exhaust pipes with a free flow type exhaust system, He had to modify the air filter box as shown and re-jetted the carbs twice to get the fuel mixture and burn right on the Dyno. The Bike now outputs 51 horse power, where the stocks exhaust it was 38 H/P. The bike sounds incredible and when my son and I got home, we removed from the trailer and then I rode it.

For 1st time in months I felt a whole person and on Sunday morning I going on a short breakfast run or as long as I can endure the bike ride.

Tornado's going to import me a K&N Air Filter box from the U.S.A. and he stated the bike will go even better. Also by having a short Pipe, I now can take off my back wheel without removing the exhaust, it bonus for DIY people like myself.

I thank TG from Tornado for the beautiful work done to my bike, which was totally to my satisfaction.

Regards
Stormrider

Sorry about your accident. Glad to hear you made it through. Welcome back.

The mods on the bike look great. Sounds like you found a good place for help. Welcome back to the fray and safe riding.

Do you have the dyno print out? I'm not trying to be an @ss but I dont see how your 38 hp bike gained 13 hp off an exhaust and jeting I gained one hp from about the same. I was also looking at the air cleaner on yours did they just cut a hole in the air filter cover? if so do you have a air filter over the carb inlet? it looks like you will be sucking in a lot of dust and crap.

From what I understand, after the hole was cut in the air box they repacked the box so hopefully dirt won't be sucked in.

TG did recommend that I change my Air Filter Box to a K&N, and I'm doing so as soon as it's imported.

I don't have the Dyno print out but I was assured by TG that the HP had increases and I can definately feel the change, especially on inclines.

Tornado Developments have a good relationship with most of the dealers in South Africa for aftermarket pipes, and many of them including Honda recommened him to me.

I've only had the bike back for a day but I'm extremely Happy.

well the hole is cut in to the clean air side I don't have good pics of mine but if you look at this link you might see what i'm talking about. take off the cover and see if there is some type of filter over the carb inlet.

5th pic is what i am talking about

I thought you were going to say you had a Triumph Bonneville, they all sound like sewing machines. I know too.

There is definitely a new Air Filter on the Carb intake side as the pictures show, so I should be OK until I get the new Kuryakyn air filter box which I want

nope they messed you over don't ride it. that hole they cut is in the air cleaner cover they may have put on a new filter but the air travels the wrong way. in the pic i am attaching the air flows in to the carb in the red circle. The reason they had to jet it and you gained so much hp is there is 0% air filtration it goes rite in that hole they cut and in to your carb AKA rite in to your motor so any bugs or dirt will go rite in. the red is your carb inlet the blue is where the dirty air comes in and gets filtered.

I'd take that back and make them order you new parts. crap getting in your cylinders is fastest way to kill your motor.

Good Day MIR
THANK YOU, I will have to wait until the other air box comes, my favourite saying is “Assumption is mother of all **** up” and now I just stuff up my existing Air box, well I will have wait until I get a new air box which I will now try and import myself .
I can’t tell how thankful that you showed the error and how I almost damaged my bike, at my age I should know not to trust everybody and assume that they know what they doing,
They demanded Cash, no paper work was given which should have rung bells in my head for me, yet the local Honda dealer raved about them. I will contact them on Monday,
My son wanted his new Honda Fury exhaust changed and a lot of expensive mods done next week, by them, so I will phone him tonight.
Regards
Stormrider/Phil
