Hello Gearheads and seasoned riders!

I'm wondering what engines would fit my 85 Shadow VT 1000 without modifying the frame. I read some post a while ago that mentioned that the all 1100 engines up to and including 1996 shadows should fit in the frame no problem.

Just looking for some advice before I buy, thanks!

Long story short I lent my bike to a buddy for the summer who never filled up the oil and the engine seized

Very sad but provided a neat oportunity to call in my dad and split the crankcase! Big man explained how to save this engine but turns out buying a used one is about twice cheaper and way faster.

Without modifications, only the 85 and 86 1100 engine will fit. You would have to make a lot of mods for any other engine to work.

Just put a 86 11000 engine in last weekend now she rides better than before!

How did you fit a big block in there without mods to teh frame?

11,000cc? that's like, what, 600+ci.

We are comparing a rebuild on our 2000 VT1100T or getting a newer engine. If we go newer, we would like to go bigger. Can we without mods?

Doubtful, I'm only saying after looking at jug sizes.
