I currently own a 2009 Shadow Aero 750 and am looking to acquire the following items and am looking for any help in finding compatible products with my bike:
- helmet lock & cable (for HJC CL-16 helmet) - jacket lock & cable (Tourmaster Flex series Jacket) **not sure if I need both or just one as I am new to riding and haven't seen any of these up close, but I want to lock up both on the bike if possible. - any sort of sissy bar luggage that could allow for overnight trips on the road. Not sure what size or specs I should be looking for. - any other sort of security systems/items that might be worth considering as well (I've seen a lot of disk locks online, are they any good or worth the money?) I also am curious if anybody has used a bluetooth with a fullface helmet before and how well it works? I'm looking into the idea for phone purposes only not music. Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions.

Does the bike not already have a d-ring lock for your helmet? Left side, rear, fender rail?
Worste case, I may consider selling you mine. Come from a 2004 VT750C A Shadow Aero. At $300 there's no way I am leaving my helmet on my bike. Even if they do trash the strap trying to cut it loose. New straps are cheap. New helmets, not so much. |

The bike has a stock helmet lock its on the driver side under the fender. If you have bags I bet its hiding and useless. You can buy/make a relocation bracket. I did this and it works good. I hate having extra keys and this one works with stock keys.
I have seen lots of people use bike cable locks for jackets just run it through a arm hole. I talked to a guy at my college that had a disk lock on and he said his bike has not been stolen. Look at Motorcycle Gear, Parts and Accessories at Motorcycle Superstore for luggage I buy most of my stuff form them but I also look for cheapest prices else where to. I have never used a Bluetooth helmet but I am about to order one in the next week or so I'm still debating over 3 different ones. Reading a lot of reviews just so you know most people say most of the helmets are useless at 55+ do to wind. Some helmets only have one speaker. My state (Cali) you can only have speaker in one ear but what ever. I want this but cant justify spending 400+ on it Digital Guard Dawg: Keyless Ignition for Honda Motorcycles |

Yes it has the stock lock on it but as stated it is impossible to get to with my saddle bags in the way. MLR any change you have more info about the relocation bracket? Where did you relocate it to?
I do have the back seat backrest + sissy bar and have thought about using this instead but didn't know if there was a better place to consider. I just hate going into a store with my helmet when it sits so nicely on the backseat backrest, but I really don't want to have it stolen. That DGD system is really really sweet. I might have to save some money and look into that in the coming years. If you do end up getting it or anybody else here already has it please let me know your thoughts on the install as well as how well the product works.

NoPork.com Store
This is where I got mine but I do not recommend this site they took to long in shipping and dicked me around like a month long wait. You can make one way faster and cheaper. All it is, is a 1 1/2'' X 5''(I'm just guessing on the size) long piece of flat bar with 3 holes drilled in it. I'd take a pic but my bike is being kept out of the rain at a friends house. In the pic if you look by the bolt that holds the driver seat on that is where I relocated it to. But you can use any bolt. There is videos of the DGD on youtube lots of guys make there own but I don't know if I want to try. |

the key: is it a Determined thief or some punk crack head or kid trying to impress a friend. If I leave my helmet siting there and it walks off I'm the one to blame at least if I lock it its got to be cut. |

Just a little DIY thought, our family uses 3/16 or 1/8th inch plastic coated cable around 8' long. We make loops on both ends that we can loop over the helmet lock pin or take your own lock. The key to making the loops on the ends is to make sure you peel off the plastic coating in the loop area before installing the ferrule. The best way to crimp the ferrule is to put it in a vise.
To have 8' of cable is nice as we wear full coverage helmets and we just run the cable through the helmet, then you can also run the cable through your coat sleeve also and then just hook the loops the helmet lock or again use your own lock. In all my years of riding and leaving our gear on our bikes while using the cable system, not once has anything ever been taken. When you don't need the cable it will roll up nicely into a circle and I secure it with a, yes, homemade Velcro tie. Fits nicely in saddlebag and takes up very little room. Best part, you can do it for under 10.00 dollars. Just a cost effective thought for the day!
