oil leak vt1100

I found oil drops under the shadow this morning. its a 1995 vt1100 spirit. I wipped it up and wipped down the underside of the bike and took it for a spin. of all things I ended up with the clutch side cover off to find the gasket for the clutch slave cyclinder leaking. I mean with the engine running I could wipe the oil and it ran right back down the case. anyone have this happen?? I called the Honda shop but they have to order it so for an 8 buck gasket I'll miss 4-5 days of riding. just thought I'ld ask

The most likely fault is the clutch pushrod seal..The slave cylinder gasket sits over a small drain cutout..This is not an urgent repair and can be left until you have a week where you don't need to ride the bike..Unfortunately I think the 95 model has the seal inside the cover and this means extra work, (the earlier model just needed the old seal hooking out and the new one pressing in, took about 1/2 hour altogether)..it would be a good idea to check with someone who has the same model as you or your service manual.

John thank you for your reply. It makes sense that its a seal. I have not removed the slave cyclinder but I will tomorrow and see whats up. I hope its a pull out, press in type seal. tonight (I'm at work) I will check Cheap Cycle parts to see how much it is and how the seal is installed.
