After 12 years of sitting out in desert heat and dust!, the petcock on this bike was quite dirty and was difficult to turn. I sprayed WD40 down into the body of the valve and let it sit for awhile. Then slowly worked it back and forth and it is easier to turn, but not as smooth as I believe it should be. I plan on continuing this process over a few days and see if it improves, however, when dealing with such an old valve and where gas is concerned, re-using this doesn't meet the SAFETY requirement. The valve body has 2 rivets holding the cover on to get access to the internals. Has anyone ever drilled out these rivets and made a repair (my past experience says there should be a rubber O-RING inside of here)? Or just see if there is a replacement valve available? Thanks, Bob
