Reserve Tank Question

Morning friends!
After a short stop to the shop for a carb rebuild, now have the bike in running order. During the conversation with the repairman, he indicated the reserve tank was 'pretty bad'. So, started searching for a replacement, but wondered if anyone had cleaned and recoated the reserve, much like the regular tank? It seems like it would be easier than the regular tank (due to size), but wanted to see if anyone had experience with this repair.

Thanks!

It all depends on how badly it's rusted.

The openings are so small I don't know how you could see if it was clean or coated afterward. A lot of work to get it out so maybe if it is really bad, get a used tank that is better, to put back in.
