Hey guys, does anybody know if the carbs on an 84 honda shadow 700 and 85 700 are the same and inter-swappable?

I am sure they WILL work because it shows they are the same size. But there may be subtle differences with jetting for emissions ,etc. But the 85 may have an air control valve valve also for decel pop.

According to Partzilla they are not the same. Doesn't mean they won't fit as Swifty mentioned.

I meant they probably should work, as in they will fit the space.
But just like the old days of taking off your old Chevy 2 barrel and slapping on a 4 barrel carb. There may be some adjustments needed.

I agree with Swifty. I have an 85 VT700 and the shop manual shows the main carb body to be the same, and my 85 does have the air cut-off valve. It is external and removable. May I suggest doing a google search for 84 and 85 VT700 and cross reference the main body part numbers. Most parts houses use the same parts fiche reference.

Sorry, but I have no idea. I had an '85 700, but had it stolen from me by the dealership.

Question: Is the hammer in the picture for the cat or the bike?
