Default ACE and engine guards installation

OK, 3 bolts to come out, and the last one just stops it. Bought Cobra engine guards for a 03 ACE. The right side peg bolt needs to come out but is blocked by the front pipe. If the pipe was like 1 inch higher it would clear. Does any one know if you have to take the pipes off completely to get this bolt out? Or just loosen the pipe probably at the head to get enough play in it and clearance, or any other ideas? Thanks for the help

Have a '96 ACE. I had to completely loosen my front header pipe to get the guard on.

I have a 99 ACE and I had to take the pipes almost completely off. Not too much of a hassle.

I took my pipes all the way off. Not really a big deal.

It's been a while since I did the deed but as I recall, I just had to loosen the pipe to clear it but I chose to remove it completely since you often cannot reuse the gasket and get a good seal. I replaced the gasket when I reinstalled the pipe. HTH
