Default clutch ??

hey everyone i am new to this forum and i just bought a 01 shadow ace 750 ... i love it but i have a question i was riding home last night and it felt like the clutch was slipping but at the next light i found my clutch lever was sticking in and not releaseing i was able to ride i just had to pull the lever back out after i shifted so i stopped and bought some wd40 and lubed the lever and nothing then i lubed the pivot point on the trans i am guessing but where the cable on top of the motor pivots and after i lubed it everything was ok ... why would this happen and is this going to happen again ? what should i do? i dont want to not ride it fearing something is going to go wrong again ...

Welcome to the forum!

Periodic lubrication is essential, you should lube the cable as well every year or two with cable lube. Just use a good quality lubricant on the pivot, points, (WD-40 does not qualify) and plan on it becoming a 'regular maintenance' itme like changing the oil or lubing the chain.....just not as often.

A little grease-axle, lubriplate, once every year or two.

Get spray cable lube - or a kit to lube cables to keep them moving freely -do it once a year or so. Maybe every two years if you don't ride much or it doesn't see much weather.

Try this. Not expensive, probably available at your local dealer, and it's not a spray, so you can easily control the amount you use. Great applicator for cable lubrication too.
