Default 750 spirit air intake mod?

Hi, recently purchased a used 07 spirit. It was missing the air cleaner assembly, the previous owner said he was in the middle of a mod, but waiting on something in the in the mail to complete it. all that is down there is the 2 intake hoses covered by a piece of cloth with rubber bands. The dealer says bout $400 in parts to replace everything. Any idea on the mod he was attempting? or any suggestions on an aftermarket cleaner that would come out cheaper. also the mufflers have been punched out, but the carbs have not been re-jetted. help!

First, if the carbs haven't been rejetted, it aint gonna run without the stock air cleaner. I don't think there is a cheap alternative unless you can find a take off stock air cleaner on ebay.

Trying to get this straight, you purchased a used bike in the process of being modified? I would have waited for the mail to get there unless he gave the bike way. Everything ive been reading has told me to stay away from modding the intake system as it becomes a tuning nightmare.

Why did you but a NON running bike? I hope you got a really good deal. I also hope the only problem it has is a missing airbox.

You save money converting to a Hyper Charger or some other A-Marjet intake. Could cruise E-Bay for the missing parts. Lots of OEM parts sellers on the web check some and compare pricing. You can also go to these site to find out which parts you are missing.
Until you get the Intake squared away and run it you won't KNOW for sure if you need to rejet.

I run a Thunder intake on mine. The stock air box is gone. It has a cone K&N filter and runs perfect.I had to re-jet the carbs, but more air + more fuel = more power.
