Default Need help with parts diagram

I have an 83 VT500 Shadow and need a seemingly hard to find part.

There is a chrome cover that goes over the throttle linkage. It is attached with two screws(I have these). These screws go into the top of two small bolts with threaded heads. I'm missing one of these and it beats me if I can't find them on the parts diagram. Does anyone know what part # this is so I can order one? Thanks.

Try going to www.servicehonda.com. You can connect to the actual parts fiche Honda uses to order parts. They have the fiche for your bike, but I'm not sure which part in the drawing you're looking for. Find your part, copy down the part number, then you can cross-match it on Ronayers.com or other fiche site to see if any other bikes use that part number.

If you can post a pic of the part (unless it's missing of course!) and location on the bike, maybe someone will have some other ideas.

Good luck,

CB

Thanks for the link, but I still can't see what I'm looking for.

Here's the cover I'm trying to re-install(it was off the bike when I got it).

Those screws(#35 in pic) screw into the two oddball "bolts" with threaded heads. I'll try to get a pic later, but it's raining so I might not feel like going back outside by the time I get home.

Here is a pic of the left side carb with the linkage. Going off of these diagrams I'm thinking it almost has to be the #4 and #5 screws/bolts. They don't look right in the pictures though. The tops need to be hollow to accept a screw.

dwh4784 I checked Servicehonda and bikebandit.com they both use the same horrible 5th generation scanned photocopy out of a shop manual, I found the same thing that you did which is that part labeled # 35.

Best I can tell you is to just take the one you have to the Honda Service shop and see if they have a used one in their spare parts bin they will let you have, or have the Parts Dept. order a new one for you, from what I saw (if # 35 is the correct part) they were only 40 cents each.
