I have a 2003 VT750DC I bought it used and it has corba drag pipes. They where installed by dealer when bike was new. I have the oem pipes and would like to install them. Is there a way to tell if carbs where jeted when cobra pipes where installed without taking them apart ? Will it damage anything to just install the oem pipes and ride ? The reason I suspect they wheren't rejetted is because the drag pipes have black soot in them.Indicating rich mixture. It also backfires on decel sometimes.
Thanks in advance |

I don't think you can go by soot and "backfire on decel." My bone stock 500 has a small amount of soot inside the pipes and pops on decel. Always has...

I replaced some V&H pipes that came on my bike with OEMs without knowing what jets were in the carb. The V&H pipes looked a little sooty inside when I took them off and there was some decel popping with them, but the OEMs have stayed clean as a whistle since I put them on and the bike runs fine, so I believe it had the original jets all along.

Yes, less restriction = more airflow = leaner mixture.
