Default when changing tires do you need to change innertube.

there are a lot of threads on changing tires.which brands to use, how long they should last, how much they should cost.etc. but i never see anyone mention anything about the innertubes. i just assume everyone just reuses the old tube but is there a lifespan to these tubes and what should you look for when inspecting the old tube.

I got a flat twice on the rear, and both times they replaced the tube. There's no patching or repairing a motorcycle innertube like on a bicycle. When the tube is punctured or damaged, you replace it......end of story!

With that said, when installing new tires, new tubes are in order too. I wouldn't even think of re-using an old tube. The tube is probably the weakest link; why take a chance with your life?

I've reused them, "IF" they look good, no crap inside the rim, like rust etc. I wouldn't go more than 2 or 3 tire changes though. They get old and dry rot just like anything made of rubber.

I wish I had bought new tubes when I bought my tires. I'm now kicking myself in the ass because my front tire is half on and the tube has a hole in it.

Front inner tube, 100-90/19, $22.91 at Ronayers.com. Lots of tire dealers will give you a good price if you buy them with a set of tires.

It's a lot of work (or labor) to remove the wheels for tires, the labor on the tubes is nearly nothing if done with the tires. Full labor charges again to go back and replace a tube later.

Just makes sense, and cents, to me to replace it with the tires.

Motorcycle tubes should only set you back about $15 or $20 at the most. The rear might be a bit more expensive because of the 90 degree valve stem.

For that price, I don't know why anyone would even think of re-using one.

It's all there is between you and the road...........
