Default 83 3wire mod

Anybody got a pic of "location" on the 3wire mod or a more clear indication of where this is? Thanks

Just follow the wires from the Alt., they should lead to the side cover or under the seat. when you do the mod it doesn't matter which wire goes to what wire, make sure you get heat shrink on the solder joints if they ground out you can kiss the Alt. good by.

Pull off the left side cover. Of the plugs that are behind that cover, it's the far right plug. It's from the alt. as said above, and it goes to the voltage regulator which sits below the battery. The regulator is on a hinged bracket with a bolt on the right. You loosen it to change the battery.

O Larry,

The 3 wire Mod is more of a correction than a Mod, the connector that connects the Alt to the Regulator is a connector that causes a LOT of expensive problems it corrodes and gets hot and burns and sometimes shorts out the Alt and/or Reg., by cutting them and soldering them together this is problem is eliminated and it's very easy to do.
