I don't know what model pipes I have, but they are pictured on the Vance & Hines webpage when you choose metric and look at the Honda.
So I feel certain they are V&H. I'd like to buy quieter baffles for my exhaust (and keep the same pipes) but I don't know if that's possible. I just took out the baffles that are in there to see if I could add some fibreglass mat some how. The "baffles" that are in there are pretty much straight through, no baffles to speak of. So, my friends, any suggestions where to go? Thanks a million. Dave . PS If anyone wants me to post a picture of the existing "baffles", I could.

I bought some queit baffles for my straightshots from cruizer customizing. They are made by Vance and Hines. They are slightly smaller in diameter, but bolted in fine. Sound nice, really like them. According to the Vance and Hines sight, they don't work in my pipes, perhaps the diameter. Here is a link to another option. They are supposed to be good, more expensive though. http://www.bigcitythunder.com/
Link to the V and H baffles. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/de...116&model_ID=0

I bought the BIG CITY THUNDER baffles for my V&H Longshots on my Sabre. Disappointed as they didn't help quiet them down. Still looking.

I have V&H straightshots on my 750 spirit and the exhaust was pretty loud even with baffles (never had them out so I don't know what no baffles would sound like). After I had the carb jetted the sound seemed to get quieter with a deeper rumbling tone (more Harley-ish I guess). Also the backfiring went away which cut out alot of noise. Overall I think the jetting adjustments helped change the overall tone of the exhaust note which makes it feel less loud and obnoxious.

I have the V&H Straight Shots, what I did was bought baffles at a local shop that are wide on the ends and narrower down the length, I guess kind of like an I. I wrapped the narrow part with packing and it quieted things down quite a bit.
The guy at the shop where I bought the baffles said that's exactly what V&H does with their quiet baffles. |

I used the baffles from my pipes to quieten it down. I made two opposing cuts in the baffles, cut out two 2" disk with a hole saw and cut them into halves. Put the halves into the baffles and tack weld them into place, wrap them up and bolt them back into place. This quietened my pipes down to where there was no ear piercing noise and the bike still ran good without overheating.
Before cutting the baffles, divide them into thirds and make your cuts half way through from opposing sides. I used a chop saw with a thin blade. I cut the 2" disk from scrap 11 ga steel with a hole saw and put them into a vise to cut them in halves. Its a pretty easy mod if you have the tools or access to them. Good luck. Hope this helps. |

i can't vouch for this product personally, but www.smartpartz.com offers a quiet baffle for V&H pipes. $70 for a pair and they advertise a 30 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. I've been comptemplating buying these for my V&H straight shots on my 1100 ACE. The straight shots made it LOUD (just like V&H promised). Although I may just go back to stock and offer up the straight shots for sale. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your suggestions.
I think I'll contact smartpartz dot com and give them my exhuast measurements, and maybe a photo of the baffles, and see if they can fix me up. ShortBus is definitely thinking like me with the glass mat. I wish I had a good mc shop nearby. I like Eclynn's mod, seemed very clear. If I had the tools...... Thanks again all. Dave
