Fletch,
My 2003 1100 Sabre has an in line filter. Here is the link http://www.hondashadow.net/forum/vie...ht=fuel+filter Posted: Mon Jun 16, 2008 4:48 pm Post subject: Fuel filter replacement -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am posting this so if someone does a search they can read what I encountered while changing out my fuel filter. Bike-- 2003 Honda Sabre 1100C2 Miles-- 30,000 Fuel filter--factory, never changed. Bike wouldn't start. Gas coming from tank. All fuses/electrical fine. Air flow fine. Switches on. Key on. Kick stand up and transmission out of gear. Still no start. Checked fuel at carbs and didn't have any. Time to check filter. From underneath look up in front of the rear tire. The filter is a frost white canister type filter about 2" in length by 1" in diameter. Removal--- Pull the right side cover from bike. Take the bolt out that holds the little fill neck/cap for the coolant and pull the hose towards the front of the bike and wedge it somewhere to hold it pointing up. (keeps it out of the way). Get a long needle nose plyer and pull the rubber holder that is around the filter to the right off of the tab that is on the fuel pump. Use plyers to squeeze clamps and push them away from the filter on both sides. Wear goggles and remove hoses. I had to use a flat blade screw driver to seperate the hose from the nipples on both sides of the filter. Gas will come out and run down your arm and all over the floor so put rags under the bike. Take rubber holder off of old filter and put on new one. Push both hoses onto the new filter on each end. Do not put the clamps back yet. You will have to twist the filter to get the little rubber holder into the right postion. Start pushing the rubber holder onto the tab on the fuel pump and with a long screw driver help it into place. From underneather reach up and squeeze the clamps and put into position. Start bike and check for leaks. Reinstall the coolant tube, put side cover back on. This took me about 20 minutes for the entire job and I didn't have a clue where the filter was LOL! _________________ 2003 1100 Honda Sabre It's not the destination, it's the journey.
