Your CL90 does not have a model year. The Sell Date is listed as 1967-1969.
Prior to September 1973, Honda used a “Sell Date”. 1974 was the first “Model Year” for Honda. Your CL90 is definitely rare. There was also the CL90L Sell Date 1968-1970 5HP SCRAMBLER. “5HP VERSION OF CL90 FOR NEVADA LICENSING REQUIREMENTS” My first new motorcycle was a CB450KO in 1967. There is a group in OKC that has rides for small bikes only, nothing over 250cc. Looks like fun. http://middelnet.www6.50megs.com/VJMCofOK.htm http://www.vjmc.org/ |

Evil Twin,
The closest match I can find for what you describe in 1965 is the S65 SPORT. Sell date: 1965-1969. Release date: 04/01/65 It has the exhaust high on the right side like a scrambler. The name Scrambler was used from 1967 until 1974. All the scramblers had CL in their designation. It looks like all the two cylinder scramblers had their high exhaust on the left side. The Trail 90 has a high exhaust and has a CT designation. 1964 was the first year for the Trail 90, but it was not black. Do you have a picture or the frame number? Honda used frame numbers until 1980, and then switched to V.I.N. numbers. Google “honda s65 sport” to see if it looks like your old bike. |

My sister has a bike like that-- but black and grey as the other poster says. I take it out each time I visit. Great fun, though a bit slow on some roads around her place.

My original plan was to turn it into a tiddler of a Cafe Racer, but once I saw how complete it was, and how good the condition was... well, I think might actually restore this one. We'll see how I feel once I clean the carb and fluids.
I'm considering getting it registered and using it to commute... I only have about 2 miles a day to get to work... I'd walk, but I'm old and lazy, and 50% of the walk is about a 30 degree angle upwards. Funny... I have a 750-4, a 350 twin, and now a thumper 90... what's next? Monkey bike? This was definitely made between '67-'69. There are a whole pile of Hondas made with this little 4 stroke 90 cc engine, CL, CS, S, CT... the frame numbers check out. It's about dead centre for the run for this bike. As soon as my back says "good to go" I'm loading it in the van and bringing it home.
