Hey guys,
New to the site but have already followed some plans for DIY Manometer that was posted. The mufflers on my shadow were real rusted when the previous owner had it. He cut the muffler shorter then put baffles in with an ugly cap welded to the end. It looked absolutely horrid. Any person with any sense of taste could nearly cry looking at it So now its louder, obviously, but I am concerned about the pressure. One person will tell you it doesn't matter and one will. I myself lean towards keeping backpressure the way it was designed. Now if I buy some universal mufflers, lets say from jcwhitney, can i just bolt them on Any help will be good help. Thank You God Bless Jake

My 85 came with Jardine Slip-ons. all the pipe is the same up to the actual mufflers themselves. So I still have the H design going on. Some real funny stuff can happen when you change the amount of back pressure. Things like exhaust popping.. which leads to the hundreds of threads we have about rejetting. The more we change from the original design the more we have to fix through trial and error.

For a windshield, take a look at the National Cycle Ranger. That's what is on mine (shown below) though it's difficult to see the top edge in this photo. It's on the smaller side of what I could find because I'm short, but works great.

I have these on my '83. They have a nice sound and no rejetting needed.
Hope this link works http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Motorcycle-Parts-Accessories__Honda-Shadow-VT700-VT750-83-85-Chrome-Exhaust-Tapered_W0QQitemZ160313611250QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20A ccessoriesQQadiZ2863QQddiZ2811QQadnZMotorcycleQ20P artsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcy cles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item160313611250&_trks id=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A543|65%3A12|39%3A1 |240%3A1318
