Default Need. More. loud!!!!!!

I have a 2001 Shadow VLX 600, I currently have Cobra Classic Slash cuts on it, but it's still not loud enough. What pipes can I get to make it louder?

Probably drag pipes.........but if you ride much ....well make sure and bring Asprin and a new battery for the hearing aid you will soon need.

Remove the ones you have and be done with it ...

And people wonder why a non-riding public dislikes bikes on the road ....

Move much further South...the irregular shape and consistency of the Snow banks must be absorbing a high % of the sound waves vs reflecting them...

My SlashCuts on the 94 VLX 600 are quite loud. Maybe we could trade if they will swap-out..

can you remove the baffles?

I took mine out but that way too loud. I cut the baffles took out about 1/3 of the "baffeling" area and welded back together. perfect!

I also have cobra long shots

No, taking out the baffles is a bad idea. It will mess with your back pressure and eventually destroy your valves As far as noise, it's not a "Hey! look at me and my loud bike" factor. It's personal preference. I like loud things, minus loud girls

J/K

Anyhow I've heard drag pipes will do that. How hard would it be to fabricate my own pipes?

I don't know who told you that, but that is not correct.

#1. There is no such thing as back pressure in an exhaust system.
That's a term that's thrown about by people who use it as a buzz word
and don't know how exhaust systems work.

#2. No, it won't burn your valves. If it did, every race car on the planet
would blow up when it ran, because the open headers they run would
be 10x's worse that removing a set of baffles in an stock or mildly tuned motorcycle.

There are plenty of motorcycles out there running straight pipes.
Yes, going straights will probably require a rejet, but it's not going to burn valves.

It's a 600. Sounds to me like you really want to sound like a bigger bike than you have. Am I close?

...and? That doesn't make it correct.

Again, there is no such thing as "back pressure."

I'm quite familiar with exhaust systems and how they work.

Exhaust systems work on pulse pressure and flow velocity, NOT back pressure.
You cannot, under any correctly functioning exhaust system read a steady pressure.
You CAN however, read Pressure PULSES as they travel through the exhaust system.

Exhaust pulses travel in two phases, high and low.
The leading edge of the pulse is the high side and the trailing edge is the low side.
As one pulse travels through the system, the low side of one helps pull the high side of the one behind it.(Natural physics).
High pressure always moves to low pressure. That doesn't mean it backs up and creates "back pressure".

As I said, people throw it around as a buzz word because they don't know
or understand how an exhaust system really works.
