I was wondering if the 83-85 vt700 carbs would swap onto the 86-87 vt700 ?
Is it possible to use the 83-85 jet kit? I need the needle part. The previous owner punched the baffles out of mine and it has a miss between 2500 and 3800 rpm that is from being lean, and there seems to be no jet kit for the 86-87 models to get it tuned.

I'm not aware of a kit, but I know that the 1984/85 kit will not fit the 1986 carbs.
You don't need a kit. Just bump the main jet up two sizes, and the slow jets one or two sizes. (depending on where you like your pilot screws set) If it's a matter of needing the needle, you can just re-order the stock needle from a Honda shop and use bigger jets to make the mixture richer. --Justin

Thanks Justin. I will get a small range of upward jets on order and fiddle with them.
