i found some grips i really like on ebay. but they dont specifically say what years they will fit for the 1100.i want to make sure they fit before i order cause they are in hong kong.so my question is,are all the 1100's equipped with 7/8" bars ? if not,what year did they change the size of the bars.thanks for any help.

it does allso say that they will fit the vtx 1300 2003-2006 but i allso dont know the size of those.

My '06 has 1" bars.

i searched some more and got lucky.i found some stainless steel rail skull ones in the 7/8 size.regards.

What are you going to use for grip glue?

The stuff I used last year sucks -- the grip slides down a little anytime the temp reaches 90º. I plan on waiting for a warm day next Spring and pulling the grip off, cleaning it up and putting it back with some good stuff. But what is the good stuff?

on the ones that have rubber that slips on the bars,i dont use glue,i simply wrap the handle bar with black electrical tape barely overlapping all the way to the end.i wrap it on the throttle sleeve as well.trust me,it will be so hard to get on with just the tape,you wont need no glue cause they wont come off or slip until you want to get them off.and you wont be able to see the tape visually.so nobody will know what there is under the grips.if you hav'nt tried the tape,you should.

looks like it..i'm going to guess that 87 is when they changed the bars.i appreciate all those that posted for future reference.regards.... -kenny-
