Default Headlight modulator review

I just installed the headlight modulator that JC Whitney sells made by Amperite and I am extremely happy with it. http://www.jcwhitney.com/headlight-d.../p2010075.jcwx

First of all it is a fraction of the cost of some of the others that I have seen.

Second it works real well. http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a30...00413-1846.flv

Although it's a little tough to see in the video it flashes real nice.

Only downfall is it has no optical eye to turn it off at night, but what I did is hooked it up in line with the highbeams. I usually only use low beam at night anyway, so it will only be on with my highbeams.

Time will tell on how durable it is but so far I like it and recommend it to anyone looking to buy one.

I also bought their brake light pulsator...when you hit the brakes it pulses 5 times then stays solid.[/url]

Ya know, I have a hard time buying that those guys actually know what they're talking about. Consider:
Quote:
it flashes the headlamp every 1/10th of a second
and
Quote:
The rate of modulation is 200 to 280 cycles per minute
Now I'm not claiming to be a math wizard but it isn't too hard to figure that there are a total of 600 tenths of a second in each minute -- meaning there should be 300 cycles. Where did the other 20 to 100 go?

+1,000

It looks to flash less then what they say (looks to be 2 flashes/1 sec judging by my eyeball) but who cares it works perfectly. It's not like they are using their awesome description to justify a large price considering they are priced inexpensive compared to others on the market.

You really don't have to be a math wizard to throw together some very simple circuits. Hell I got electric out of a potato when I was in elementary school, doesn't mean I knew the mathematic equations of what was happening though

You could wire it through a switch if you really wanted to

Default Modulator

Wonder how much it will cost after you get a ticket for not turning it off at night?

A simple on/off switch in the hotwire should suffice very well.
