Do you mean only the 1100 designation? Because there certainly were/are 2001 750 ACE's...

Yeah, of course I meant the 1100 -- the original post started with

That light should be on if you turn the key on with the stand down......and should go OFF when you put the stand UP.

This makes me think, however.........(dangerous!) what would happen on MY bike if the side stand safety went open while riding down the road ??

Is there something in the circuit that ONLY comes into effect when the transmission is in neutral AND the clutch is pulled in ????? That could explain why the circuit for that seems a LOT more complicated that is necessary.

Some testing may be in order.
I don't have a schematic but with the stand down, the clutch switch has to be activated AND the transmission has to be in gear for the engine to die.
I don't have enough guts to put down my stand in a RH turn to see if the engine will die without pulling the clutch in
Any test pilots out there

BTW I liked the rubber end on the kickstand of older model bikes a lot better than the electronic version on the newer ones.
The rubber end ones left no doubt in ones mind that you forgot to put up your stand

Never done it while the bike was moving but I have killed the engine a couple of times by putting down the sidestand while sitting on the bike with the transmission in gear. I don't remember the details but I do remember feeling stupid about it one time and doing it on purpose another. I've probably accidently done it another couple of times but only the first one sticks in my memory.

The motor will deff cut off when in gear and you put the side stand down. Clutch position can be either in or out, if it's in gear the motor stops.

This is to prevent you from starting it in gear and having it lurch foward into something or one.

This is how I turn mine off almost every time I park somewhere. Much easier than putting it in netural and reaching down for the key then putting back in gear to keep it from rolling off.

After having watch a couple of bikes roll off their sidestands and go CRUNCH (Not mine thankfully), I have made it a habit to shut the engine off with the sidestand! Works for me!
