Default A couple of ??? about my '86 500 Shadow.

#1 ~ I have read that my seat is 2 piece.
Is it? Also how do I remove it?

#2 ~ Does the bike have a fuel filter other than the one at the shutoff, I think it is called the petcock, not sure?

#3 ~ Is there a taillight/brakelight bulb available that is brighter than the OEM bulb, which I believe from reading in here, is 55W.

More ??? to come.

THX, A J

#1 If the seat is like mine, you pull the tool box from the back seat, there's 2 10mm nuts toward the top - remove those, pull the back section up and forward - slides right out. Two 10mm nuts at the back of the front seat - remove those, pull the seat up and back to remove.

#2 the only fuel filter on mine is in-line right after the fuel valve

#3 don't know

#1 and 2: same answer as Mentat Ix
#3 tail/brake light is 12v 8/27w, not 55w. Your headlight is 12v 60/55w. You need to be careful not to add too much heat to the rear bulb or the lens will melt.

If you want increased rear visibility add extra LEDs to both circuits.

Seats must have been changed in 86 because I've owned an 83 and an 85 and they both had one piece seats.

If you have a fuel filter after your petcock its not stock. Unless honda got smart in 86

Default I agree.

I agree with you Blue. I don't see anywhere that it is anything other than 1 piece.

It's a 1 piece seat. You open the toolbox, remove the nuts at the back of the toolbox, and then remove the rest of the toolbox and lift the seat forward and up.
