Just like to say howdy!
Brought my 07' Aero home today. Actually a friend rode it for me since I have been on a couple years hiatus from riding. Looking forward to everything I can learn from you folks.

Thanks guys.
Being military I have to take a course to drive on base. I am going on the 14th as a standby to see if I can get in in case there are no-shows. If not there is another in Jan that I am enrolled in. I figure about three months after the basic course I'll do the advanced, and I understand they do some hairy stuff in that one. Probably still nowhere close to what the cagers and environment put on us. I wouldn't even ride the new bike home from the dealer because I didn't feel that it was safe. I got a co-worker to ride it home for me since he's a daily rider. He gave me crap all day today because he got to ride my new bike before I did! I have taken short rides around my neighborhood the last two days to get the feel of the bike, and I like what I've felt so far.

Here’s an update; I have been riding the neighborhood every day, with the exception of yesterday because we had rain (thankfully). The things that were coming back slowly for me, slow speed riding like in the driveway and turning onto side streets, seem to be coming back. Where I live I am fortunate to have one main street with little traffic to ride that has Lots of side streets, some of which are dead ends. This is allowing me to work my mind to determine the best and safest way to turn around in a dead end and helping with that slow speed turning. I can also ride on a part of the main road that has some sweeping curves and small hills with little traffic. I found that riding at speeds allowing gear shift was quite easy, pretty much like I had been riding the last couple years. I have the proper protective gear and have had a couple of encounters with the "cagers" and small animals and did the right thing in all instances. Hopefully that trend will continue. The last thing I want is to get over confident. At 48 years old I'll be looking at a hip replacement or a coffin. Having ridden again for the short time that I have has made me wonder why I haven't been riding all along. What started out again as a commuting thing may be going further. Thanks all.

Welcome, I live in Cantonment. Send me a pm and maybe we can get together. I don't have much time to ride as I am on the road quite a bit for the job. I am suppossed to be home for two weeks over the holidays.
