Default Lassen Park trip finally

After waiting for a dry day for nearly two weeks, we finally made it thru Lassen Park yesterday.

Got there around 1030 yesterday, came in thru the south entrance. Left Susanville on 36, picked up 89 south of Chester. No pic's till we got to the park.

I created a slide show of the Park ride, link below.

It was fairly warm at the entrance but dropped about 20 degrees near the top. Yes, there was a lot of snow left, especially on the south side of the park. Need bug spray if you stop very long in any one place or decide to walk thru the trees like we did to Summit Lake (we left ours at home).

We got out of the park around 1200. Decided to take 89 to Burney for lunch. Then take 299 to Adin and 139 home. Turned out to be a BAD decision. About 45 miles from Susanville, in the Grasshopper Flats area, we ran into a Thunder storm complete with lots of rain. Cold wet rain, very cold wet rain. Well the Valk did ok, we got wet. 15 minutes later, the Sun came out around the north end of Eagle Lake. We were dry, but not warm, by the time we got to town. Should have turned on 44 at Old Station and headed for home.

Getting tired of this very wet spring, ready for some warmer/drier weather.
