Yo, Patrick, our local Toys for Tots run is on Dec. 6th as well. Its always a lot of fun and nothing to be nervous about. We meet up at the local (as in only) dealership and get a police escort thru town with all intersections blocked off. Then we hit the highway and ride up to Lovington (about 20 miles) and gather at the county fair grounds for hot chocolate and cookies, door prizes and such. There are usually 5 or 6 clubs represented and all sorts of bikes. Sport bikes, cruiser, touring...you name it.
Its generally a very slow pace going thru town and even on the hiway, as we are led by the local leo's all the way over. We ride staggered formaton and I haven't ever heard of any accidents. We're usually halfway to Lovington before we ever even get to hiway speed.
Around here, it's a pretty big deal and folks will line the streets like it's a parade. Folks taking pictures, kids waving, horns honking. There are usually some folks that ride over from Carlsbad (70 miles) to particpate.
You and Diane should enjoy it, lots of nice folks, nice bikes for a good cause. All of the toys and donations collected are distributed within our county, so it's benefitting our very own.
