Where are you from in NY? I'm from the Rochester area and when I get a new seat and jacket next year I'll be up for some long rides. As it is now, more than 30 minutes gets painful. I try to get out and ride after work just to get in some time and really enjoy riding along the Seaway Trail.

There was a VERY good class with the MSF. www.gomotorcycling.com

It's in Rome, NY. I think that is pretty near you. I went there from NYC. Very good class for beginners AND veterans.
