Default Reviews on 1431 from Marble Falls to Austin...

Taking 1431 from Marble Falls to Austin and back the next day (part of a trip from DFW)...

I've heard it's a great ride but is it challenging, or just scenic?

It's both. It has decreasing radius turns, banked turns and combinations of both. Yeah. It's a fun road!

Default lot of deer

At night I always stay on the inside lanes when I can. I do this hoping it will let me avoid a deer better. Got to stop in MF at the Bue Bonnet Cafe for pie. If you get time stop in Spice Wood and ask for directions to Kroisi springs (spelling thing). It's ten minutes out of the way and well worth the trip.

+1 on the Bluebonnet. <drool>

If you're in Marble Falls? Also take a little side trip down Park Road 4 through Inks Lake State Park. Great scenery, great road and, IIRC, there's a castle you can see in the distance. Yeah...I said "castle."

Man that was the most enjoyable 40 miles of pavement I've ever experienced....

Till I got caught behind some slow ass cagers on the way back, but only near the end.

Default better ride

Next time you need get on 67 some were south of Dallas then all the way past Glen Rose then take 220 south to 281. I go this way a lot to avoid traffic on 35 and it is faster to Marble Falls than 35 most of the time. You do not have ot take 67 but any direction west until you hit 281 is great.

That's exactly the route I took...
75 south to 35E-south to 67 through Glen Rose, 220 to Hico, 281 to Marble Falls, 1431 to Cedar Park and on into Austin.

Sure takes a lot longer to Austin than 35 but it's a pleasure ride.
