Default Worthy roads around Alpine/Marfa, TX??

We're going to visit my girlfriend's sister in Alpine, TX labor day weekend, I was wondering if the riding around there was anything to write home about?

Wondering whether I should take the truck with bike in back and escape for a day. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of "roads" in that area.

I LOVE IT out there!!! One day I hope to get a "weekend" place in Alpine. It's a GREAT RIDE!!! The road from Apline to Marfa is WONDERFUL and makes a great ride.

BE VERY careful of the jack rabbits - they are literally EVERYWHERE at dusk and there is no way to avoid them in the road. Be on the lookout for antelope as well.

For fun you outta head up to Fort Davis and take Skyline Drive there at the Park.

TAKE PICTURES!

Be sure to stop for pizza at The Pizza Foundation in Marfa. I get a goat cheese, Canadian bacon & red onion pie. Mmmmmm.

In March, four of us rode to Big Bend. We had beautiful weather except for the day we rode to the observatory and had 75 mph winds.
We stayed in Alpine. One night we rode to the Marfa Lights Viewing Area. The only lights we could see were car lights in the distance. The highway going there was littered with dead dear and we encountered several deer while returning to Alpine in the dark. We were told by a local person that some fool had a deer feeder close to the road. It’s not a good area to ride at night.
