Just curious if anyone is doing this run?
http://www.freewebs.com/dfw-tft-mr/ My wife and I are planning on attending this event along with some other people I work with. This is my first event of this type so I'm a little nervous.

Yo, Patrick, our local Toys for Tots run is on Dec. 6th as well. Its always a lot of fun and nothing to be nervous about. We meet up at the local (as in only) dealership and get a police escort thru town with all intersections blocked off. Then we hit the highway and ride up to Lovington (about 20 miles) and gather at the county fair grounds for hot chocolate and cookies, door prizes and such. There are usually 5 or 6 clubs represented and all sorts of bikes. Sport bikes, cruiser, touring...you name it.
Its generally a very slow pace going thru town and even on the hiway, as we are led by the local leo's all the way over. We ride staggered formaton and I haven't ever heard of any accidents. We're usually halfway to Lovington before we ever even get to hiway speed. Around here, it's a pretty big deal and folks will line the streets like it's a parade. Folks taking pictures, kids waving, horns honking. There are usually some folks that ride over from Carlsbad (70 miles) to particpate. You and Diane should enjoy it, lots of nice folks, nice bikes for a good cause. All of the toys and donations collected are distributed within our county, so it's benefitting our very own.

In fact, I have a change of plans and will have to go directly to McKinney so I won't be meeting up with the group in Wylie. The wife andf I live in Far North Dallas so we will shoot up straight to McKinney. We'll be there about 9:30.

Hey Patrick, how did the Toy run go? I was kinda curious to how many bikes and riders would gather up for such a large metropolitan area. We had a total of 202 bikes and trikes, which was the 2nd largest group to date. I saw quite a few folks I knew, some that I didn't realize that were riders. Lots of door prizes and awards for oldest rider, youngest participant, longest distance to attend, etc. It was a lot of fun for us.

The ride went very well and was impressively organized. We had police escort throughout the entire ride (40 miles) with only one bike going down. He lost it on a big patch of gravel when making a 90 degree right hand turn so he came out of OK. I would estimate somewhere between 1000 and 2000 bikes stretching out an area of about 3 to 4 miles. We didn't stick around for any post-ride activities but overall it was a great event!
