Hill country Thanksgiving

I know that everybody will be doing “family” things on Thursday but that still leaves three days for riding.

I’m headed for the hills and you’re invited to come along.

The plan is to meet up at the Quick Trip at I-35W and Everman Parkway (Exit 42 off of I-35W) at 8:00 AM on Friday November 27 and ride down to the Koyote Ranch resort in Medina.

The Koyote Ranch has about every level of accommodation you can think of from primitive camp sites to Bed and Breakfast,.

On Saturday we will ride the “Three Sisters” Ranch Roads 335, 336, and 337. These roads are regarded by just about everyone as the best motorcycle roads in Texas and among the best in the country.

On Sunday we will return the way we came.

The weather may not be perfect but it comes pretty close to it for this time of year. Friday is predicted to be cool with the low temperature in the low in the upper 40’s and warming to 70. Saturday (the day of the big ride) should be just about perfect for this time of the year with a low in the upper 50’s and a high near 70. Sunday is not looking so good with a low in the 40’s a high in the lower 60’s and a chance of rain.

You can’t have everything but if I’m going to get caught in the rain I’d rather it be on the ride home. At least that way I know that I’ll end up in the comfort of my own home! We might get lucky and not get wet at all but it’s best to prepare for the worst.

I got a good feeling about this ride and if you’re looking for an excuse to get away from the TV this weekend this is worth your consideration.

The route there:
I-35 south to 174 in Burleson
174 south to 67 in Cleburne
67 west to 220 west of Chalk Mountain
220 south to Hico
From Hico take 281 south to Burnet
@ Burnet take 29 west to Llano
@ Llano take 16 south to Medina

The return route will be the same in reverse.
