Default The Mohawk trail

Saturday was great weather for riding, nice and clear, not too hot.

We went touring through western MA and found ourselves at the famous, (or infamous), hair-pin turn on the Mohawk Trail.

ye-hah!

Hasn't changed too much since 1939, or has it?

When heading east on Rt 2, if one were heading toward worcester/boston, there is a little gathering spot for bikers at the Rt 2/202 exit (I believe its exit 15). The Honey Farms gas station; has a Dunkin Donuts, rest room and a couple picnic tables where the local riderss and passers-by alike stop to chat and have a coffee.

That is where a few of my motley friends and I gather when we can on sunday mornings for a pick-up ride to wherever. Truly a friendly lot that call that home base. If you are in the area some sunday morning, take a look for my shadow or a 93 gray, dressed K75 (my riding buddy). Any sunday morning and we are not usually far apart.

Thanks for the invitation, I appreciate it.

If I find myself in that area around that time, I'd be glad to hook up with you guys.

Supposed to be nice weather this weekend, too.

your welcome. I am pretty sure we are meeting there saturday morning, maybe around 10-ish and going to the Smith and Wesson complex in Springfield MA... there is an annual car show there...

its their 25th annual, has a swap and sell and they have an equal turn out for bikes and cars, just not sure if the bikes are judged or not. Im sure if I spent the time to page thru the links I would find out, but I have no intention of entering, just going out for the ride, to putz around looking at the cars and swap meet stuff and enjoy a day out.

It looks like you guys are in a for a good day, thanks for the link.

The show looks like fun and the weather should be agreeable. I have some morning chores to do at that time, so I don't think I'll be seeing you.

I live in south central Mass, and tonight for supper, we rode the bike to a place in CT, great food. Afterward we cruised and later bought gas in RI.

Gotta love New England, travel through 3 states at a leisurely pace in only a few hours.

New England is great for that. Our usual sunday ride is from MA, up to NH, across hinsdale into brattleboro VT and back. 3 states in 2 hours. And you cant beat the ride... long, windy roads ideal for a bike and for the most part, drivers are more laid back out this end of the state.

I am on the line between western and central ma, about 35 miles from leominster. If you ever have the opportunity the drive around the quabbin resevoir is great. And some wonderful views too.

I am off to put a shine on the bike and get things moving this morning.
Keep the shiny side up.
