Wanted to say hello
I did a quick introduction in the genrel descussion forum. But I wanted to introduce myself here also. I live in Marion SC (45mi from Myrtle Beach). Just bought my first bike, a '94 VT600 Shadow. It had been in storage for a while, but had it checked mechanicly and is in great shape. Just needs the rust cleaned up and some TLC. I know a few other riders locally but they all have HD and when I metion I have a Honda I get a condasending "good for you" or "thats nice". So I wanted to find some other Honda owners to talk to. |

Welcome!
Keep your eyes peeled for meetups - we're just getting this Carolinas forum started. And good luck with the new-to-you scoot. Do you want me to put a pin on the map for you? -Glenn

Welcome from the southern end of SC (Hilton Head).
As far as your bike that sat-up for a while....Sea Foam is a good gas additive to help clean out the carbs. If not in Wally world, you can find it at Advance Auto Parts. Autosol is a great product for rust. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/revie...osolReview.htm

Welcome to the group. Hope to see you at a meet and greet that's planned.
Also, like a previous post had mentioned, Seafoam works wonders. I know it did a great job on my 03 VLX that sat for a year in someones garage before I got it. Even if you don't have problems, I still use it to run through every five hundred miles. Again, Welcome. Patrice and Dave

Thanks for the advice about the Seafoam. I had a friend help me clean the carb. But I'll keep it in mind to keep it clean like PrincessDiana suggests. As far as the rust I'll try anything. Most of it is on the exposed parts of the frame and not too bad. So it is a matter of sand and repaint. But there are a few places in the chrome that it got under it. I know that once it is under the chrome the only solutions are to have it re-chromed or replace it. But for now I'll clean it as best I can and keep it coated with wax. But any other advise is more than welcome.
