Default Moving to SC

Hello!

My wife and I just made the decision to move from Salt Lake City, UT to Georgetown, SC (below Myrtle Beach). She got a great job offer there as a massage therapist, and I'm tagging along.

It's ironic because I just finished setting up my new workshop here and now it's time to pack it up again. But we're buying a box truck to move, and when we're done moving I get to turn it into my shop so I won't have to take it apart again!

Anyway, we're hoping to be out there in early June.

Can anybody clue me into what to expect in terms of that area and what's available? I've looked up official Honda dealerships, Harbor Freight, Sears, and a few stores for my wife. Looks like it's a bit of a drive for anything more than Walmart. Not really sure what to ask here, but maybe you can tell me?

See you soon!

Greetings and welcome to the Carolinas. Just checked the Harbor Freight web site and this is what they list for retail stores in SC.

COLUMBIA, SC 577 SAINT ANDREWS RD
DILLON, SC 224 HARBOR FREIGHT RD.
FLORENCE, SC 937 SOUTH IRBY ST
GREENVILLE, SC 5 K-MART PLAZA
N. CHARLESTON, SC 5054 DORCHESTER RD.
SPARTANBURG, SC 1440 W.O.EZELL BLVD, #700

We have one about 30 miles away up here in NC just incase you want to change plans and move up here instead.

We can always use a good massage therapist. Anyone who has never treated themselves to a good massage has no idea what they are missing.

Good luck on your move and again welcome to the Carolinas.

Thanks!

My wife's cousin went to the same school as my wife (Utah College of Massage Therapy) which is reportedly world-renowned. She (the cousin) has a great practice going in SC at a spa/B&B and can't keep up with the demand. She says she's hired graduates from other programs out there but hasn't been impressed with any of them, so she wanted a graduate from UCMT. She called my wife to see if she'd be interested in moving out there. She called a day after we started discussing looking out of state for work since I can't even get an interview around here no matter how high or low I aim.

We're looking forward to a fresh start. Not looking forward to the mosquitos and fire ants that apparently plague the property (we'll be living on a plantation that gets treated by an exterminator a couple times a year), nor the humidity (I used to live in the Hudson River Valley, so the humidity isn't entirely new), nor the remote location (that is new, as I'm used to living within 20 minutes of a major metropolitan area), but we're excited anyway.

Maybe we'll even be able to buy a place after a while where I'll have room to set up a real shop instead of the cramped ones (or nonexistent ones) I have always had in the past. You can't find anywhere around here with any elbow/growing room for under $300,000.

Well you know what they say about real estate and what affects the price. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

Good luck on the move and welcome to the Carolinas.

You know what they say about the weather here. If you don't like it wait five minutes, it will change.

What's funny is that I've heard that said about most everywhere I've lived or even visited. Many people seem to think that it's unique to where they live. I've never lived in Seattle or Phoenix or anywhere that it wouldn't apply, though.

Can't wait to get out there!
