Default New NC Rider Hickory, NC

Just bought my second bike. Been a while since I've rode, and this ones a project bike, so it looks like it'll be a while longer.

Anyone from around the area know a good place to go get new/used parts, please let me know.

Proud new owner of a 84 Honda Shadow VT500C.

Check out my other thread for the list of todo's:

I'm glad to be a member of the community, will post a pic as soon as I get one, right now the bike is being stored at a friends garage until I can get it road worthy.

Maybe once I get her up and going we can take a ride. Not much right now, and with economy/job as it is right now it'll take me a while to get everything right. It will be road worthy in a couple weeks but with cold weather(I swear I don't own a single jacket other than a hoodie) I doubt much riding will be done.

Thats actually fine by me because once it's running good I have plenty of cosmetics to keep me busy throughout the winter.

The only person i know that rides has a Suzuki GSXR600, not too much fun riding with him, I only see him as he's going by.

Welcome from your hometown right here in Hickory, NC! Sometimes when you can catch "The Company" open on Tuesday afternoons y9ou can get parts cheaper, but also try Freedom Riders on HWy 321 in Hickory for cheap parts as well. Ask for Tim Harris. If he isnt there ask for Stan and tell them Lori sent ya.
Also, the 34th annual Cabarrus County CBA swap meet is going on this weekend at the Metrolina Fairgrounds. That would really be the place to start with!

Thanks for the info! I'll have to check them out, I just e-bayed a new headlight(round) to replace the rectangle headlight, a repair manual and new ignition switch(the old one was busted beyond repair).

I'll try to make it to the swap meet, I work on weekends 12 hour graveyard shift so I'm usually pretty out of commission. But I will definitely try!

Are they pretty good on old parts? Or good aftermarket replacement parts?

Also, any recommended painters in the area? Only guy I trusted in Cherryville retired, now I'm at a loss of a new painter!

My neighbor is an excellent painter. He has painted my car twice. But are you just wanting paint or graphics/custom or what?
