Hi All.
I've been a member here for some time, but have been on hiatus for a bit So anyhow, I have the '86 VT1100 that I bought new in '88, brand new, 2 yrs old My wife rides, too. She has an '84 Shadow 500 (and beyond ready to move up) LOL I am a machinist by trade and I have a shop in my garage. I used to have a link on this BB but apparently it's gone. I've done some work for fellow members. I have a link back from my site, always have So anyhow, nice to "meet" you all. Look forward to possibly getting together at some point editted: PS, I am extremely envious of you folks out in the western end, where you actually have mountains LOL I came down from NY 12 years ago and miss those mountains terribly.

Hi again all
Recently tore the carbs down (again!) to clean all the jets out and she's running well again, but in my frustration, I destroyed the air box trying to get it back on. I always dreaded working on the carbs just for that reason. Everything else was straightforward and cake to work on. I'm looking at the air box mods some guys have made on their bikes In other threads) and realizing that they are simply mods of existing systems, unlike mine where there is very little room between the carbs and the fuel tank. So, as a machinist, I am thinking about possibly fabricating my own intake tubes and attaching a sideways air box. I know the engineering may be off, but it will be better than no air cleaner at all. Wishing everyone a happy Veteran's Day and thanking those that served and are serving! Mark

Good luck Mark. That is way beyond my skill set. Maybe some day we can grab a cup of coffee; maybe near 53 and 95.

Thanks Jim!
Appreciate the coffee offer, too! If you ever find yourself down my way, feel free to give me a shout. (Goes for everyone else, too) Mark
