WE took a ride to see how soon the road (89) over Lassen Park would be open.
Got to the South entrance:
To Find that the road was only open 8 miles above (actually according to Valk it was only 6 miles). So we decide to ride to the where the road was closed.
Looking back down the road from the Closure
Notice the height of the drifts.
We spent some time here looking at the snow
A maintaince worker at the parking lot said that the road should be open for Memorial Weekend. Actually the road is open, but there parking areas up the hill are still be plowed out. That is why the road is not open at this time.
We headed back down the road to Chester for lunch then decided to go to Greenville, take the old Greenville/Talyorsville road. Near Taylorsville there is a road that heads up to Antelope Lake and back to Susanville. A very enjoyable 200 mile ride (took some 6 hours). Except for the short ride in the park we experinced the same heat as Buzz did in his ride up to Quincy/La Porte, but we didn't quiet need to soak shirts in the creeks/rivers
