Default Picking up my first 2 wheeler tommorow

Hi everyone. I finally made the plunge. I paid a guy today for my very first street bike. I got a 2001 Honda Shadow VT600 cd. It looks brand new with 10k miles. I cant wait to get it home. I am very excited. I have alot to do, including getting my motorcycle endorsement. Any suggestions for a first timer just starting out would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations. I agree with Lukeduck, take the Motorcycle Safty BRC - you will learn so much and gain a lot of confidence. It lso makes getting your license pretty easy,

Welcome! Glad to see you are getting the endorsement. I recommend a 2 day class too. I believe essential for new riders!

Congrads, take the safty course. My wife Pam is going to take it soon and even though I have been riding for years, I am thinking on taking it myself with her.

The BRC is an excellent suggestion. Since you are in North Carolina, I'd also suggest that next year about this time, check into the Bikesafe NC rider course. This link discusses some aspects of it and also links to the Bikesafe site. Several of my riding buddies and I took it in 2011 and it was time well spent. It's free so the price is right, too.

I can also offer you the same advice my dad gave me when I moved from dirt bikes to a street bike at age sixteen. He said, "You'll be very careful for about six months. Then you'll think you've got it all figured out and under control. That's when you'll get hurt." Dad was only off by a month. I didn't rear-end that car until seven months later.
