Default Ladies' Gear Discussion

(The welcome message says I have to post three threads, so here goes number two! I'm more of a reader than a poster, but rules are rules.)

I'm a relatively new rider, but I'm all in favor of ATGATT. I already had a jacket, helmet and gloves before taking my MSF course and getting my license, but being on the road has made me more aware of how important the gear is. However, I have been finding that as a woman it's tough to find gear to fit right, and being an unusually tiny mutant is making it even tougher. I'm also at a disadvantage that we don't have too many good brick-and-mortar stores around here to get gear, so I've been relying on web shopping.

If there are any other lady riders on here, what are your favorite brands and styles of gear and what do you like best about it?

Thanks!

Hotleathers.com, jafrum.com and probably amazon because an individual seller bowed out of being a "biker" somewhat gracefully.

Sizes are tricky, yes but they do run small so like with me being above average size (5'8" and about 165 which is slender on my frame), I have a jacket and vest both that are XL or XXL for who knows what reason. Most chaps have to fit the thigh the most but are able to be trimmed from the bottom if you are height challenged. Always go at least one size up to allow for layering which is a must in the cold months because standing on the porch thinking it isn't that bad will truly surprise you once the breeze hits you at as little as 35 to 40mph!

P.s. I'm a redhead too! You go girl!!

Redheads RULE, shadowmaker07!

I just ordered some of the kevlar-lined Shift jeans (which seem to have been discontinued), as the size charts for Draggin' and Sartso didn't seem to be in my favor. I was almost on the verge of making my own riding jeans and about to order the Draggin' kevlar longjohns to do just that.

I have an XS Powertrip jacket, but I haven't been too keen on how it fits. I'm also roasting in it right now so I'm thinking of getting an armored mesh jacket for the summer. I've been eyeing up the Joe Rocket Alter Ego 3.0 (since it's three in one) but I've never tried their jackets on so I'm wondering which size to get.

Rolling Thunder at the end of the month here, and there are supposed to be lots of vendors, so I am looking forward to it.

I've never seen much in the way of anything more than T's and doo rags, wallet chains, rings, etc at rally or poker run vendors but just maybe there will be a coat or three in a variety of sizes so you can get a better feel of what to order online. But keep in mind, everyone's and I do mean EVERYONE'S sizes are different.

My fave coat from HotLeathers is an XL and fits perfect.

One I bought off my sis who was no longer able to ride is an XXL from a different company and wayyy to big (or fine for if I were riding in bitter cold (which I cannot do because neck and back injuries hurt far worse when you are shivering to pieces) and needed a couple of sweatshirts under it, lol)

I'd look into chaps instead of the jeans you are speaking of so that you don't always have to wear the same pair everytime you ride but you'll have that warmth in the winter. I freaking LOVE my pair and they get ALOT of compliments!! (But then again, I do have a nice ass tehehe!!)

Hello girls, I'm not a natural red head, I'm a 'wanna be'. I died my hair red for several years and also used henna. Love it. I'll never be a blonde!

Shadowmaker07, I love the black & purple jacket and your chaps. I really have no good excuse to buy another leather jacket right now, but I still do not have chaps. Where did you get those chaps and who makes them? I am not sure where you live, but I am in New Orleans and I promise not to wear them if we will be in the same city, lol. I'd love to get a pair like that.

I am a new rider and not aware of too many brick & mortar shops around here, either.. other than Harley shops. I have no desire to be decked out in Harley gear. I do have a Harley jacket that was a gift almost 20 years ago and like it. And, have you girls found any boots that offer great protection and are comfortable to walk in? Again, Harley seems to have a bigger selection of styles than anyone.

The first pair of Draggin' jeans I ordered were way too big. They were very good about sending a second pair out to me very quick. I was still riding my Honda Rebel when I first got them. I felt like I was sliding forward with them on and my knees felt stiff, like they could not bend well. I washed them again and let them hang to dry. I'm not sure if that made the difference or if it is that I'm stretched out more on my new bike, but I like them now and wear them often. For the Bohn Adventure pants, I went straight off of their size charts and they were waaayy too big. There was no way I could get the knee protection to stay in place - they kept slipping down towards my ankles. I did not try them on soon enough, so couldn't return them. I think I'm going to buy their CoolAir mesh 'shell' in a smaller size and use the armor I have in the new shell. Their regular 'Adventure' pants would be too hot under jeans during summer down here anyway.

Redhead, too. And definitely agree it's hard to shop online, especially when you have nowhere to check sizing. I'm short and stocky, so I usually go XL to fit the upper part of my torso. Surprisingly, in leather jackets, that's still a tad small. Of course, one day in the rain and continuing to wear the jacket seems to have stretched it a bit. I second Jafrum and HotLeathers. Might also try Jammin (I think that's the name). For boots, try Montana. I hear they're the same company that makes the Harley ones. I have a pair that ties, but has zippers, so I can tuck in the laces and just use the zippers. Very comfortable. Will ride all day in them and still go play pool with them on that night. I think Jafrum carries a couple of decent styles.

They changed them since I got mine 3 years past now by adding the design in the space above where you would get into your jeans pockets. Mine don't have those and they are called Marilyn 2.0 by Feldsheer. Amazon has em.
Amazon.com: MARYLIN 2.0 CHAPS BLACK: Automotive Amazon.com: MARYLIN 2.0 CHAPS BLACK: Automotive

Or search around online for possibly a lesser price.
